Top five things to do in downtown Bellingham this fall

If you’re looking for things to do as the weather starts to turn, look no further than downtown Bellingham. PayByPhone, Bellingham’s exclusive parking payment provider, gives you its top five picks, and the best places to park.

1. Boundary Bay Brewery - this legendary brewery might be closing its doors for the final time at the end of September, but before that, it’s got a big, free celebration planned for its 30th anniversary on September 20. Park on-street along Railroad Avenue and Cornwall Avenue, or for longer stays, park in the Railroad South Lot.

2. If science and history are your things, then a visit to the Spark Museum of Electrical Invention is a must, where you can learn about the power of electricity, including the development of radio as well as early technology. It is fun, educational, and offers experiences for audiences of all ages. Park in the Commercial Street Garage at 1300 Commercial Street, or on-street on Commercial Street, West Holly Street or West Magnolia Street.

3. Bellingham Farmers Market is held every Saturday 10am to 2pm until December 20 in Depot Market Square, 1100 Railroad Avenue. It is a favorite with locals and tourists alike and is known for its vibrant community culture of shopping local. Parking is easy with multiple on-street locations, including Railroad Avenue, East Maple Street, East Chestnut Street, and North State Street.

4. Chuckanut Bay Distillery Tours run every day, except Monday, until December 31. The Distillery, located at 1311 Cornwall Avenue, draws visitors – who must be 21 or over - who want to see (and taste!) how the Distillery’s award-winning bourbon is made. Park in the Commercial Street Garage, which is ideal for longer stays or if you want to treat your designated driver to some pasta at D’Anna’s Café Italiano, just a five-minute walk away.

5. This is one for all art enthusiasts. Well-known Ballard artist Joe Reno - celebrated for his deep love of the North West – has a new exhibition. Flora through Cosmos starts September 27 and runs every Saturday and Sunday until November 30 at Meloy Gallery, 301 W Holly Street. Park in Diamond Parking Lot #WW05 at the same location.
