What are Parking Coupons?

PayByPhone Parking Coupons empower municipalities and parking providers to support their local businesses. When enabled, Parking Coupons allow merchants to apply a discount to their customers’ active parking sessions as well as have their business name promoted in the PayByPhone app, helping to attract more visitors. Merchants are easily approved by the parking operator through the Portal, keeping full control at their fingertips.

How it works

Merchants register and purchase coupons

Merchants pick the nearest PayByPhone location, and enter their business name and coupon value. Merchants then buy coupon balance, which gets deducted as coupons are redeemed.

Parkers park nearby, and see which businesses offer coupons

After staring a parking session, parkers click Apply Coupon to see a list of nearby merchants offering coupons.

Shop and redeem

Parkers shop nearby and scan the QR code provided by the merchant to redeem the coupon and get their discount. The merchant’s coupon balance is reduced.

Manage merchants

Parking operators can approve and hide certain merchants, retaining control of Parking Coupons in their area.

For merchants

PayByPhone Parking Coupons generate more foot traffic and visibility for their business by advertising their parking coupon in the PayByPhone app to everyone who parks nearby. Easy, self-guided onboarding in the app lets them add to their coupon balance or modify their coupons anytime. Their coupon balance is reduced as their customers redeem coupons, and a subtle warning is displayed on the QR screen when their balance gets low, alerting them to top up before the funds run out. There is also peace of mind that the coupon QR code resets every five minutes to prevent fraud.
