A day at PAX West is easy with these parking tips

A day at PAX West is easy with these parking tips

PAX West kicks off at the Seattle Convention Center in Downtown Seattle on Friday, August 29.

With almost 120,000 predicted to attend  over the course of the four-day event, navigating parking may be challenging due to high demand. Here are some top tips from PayByPhone, one of the area’s parking providers, for simplifying the journey to the event:

1. Arrive early! Give yourself plenty of time to get there and to park. Arrange to meet friends early so you can avoid any traffic congestion, arrive chilled and ready to enjoy the panels, performances and gaming sessions.

2. Plan your route. Know what your journey looks like - what route you’re going to take, and what you’re going to do once you get there.

3. Share the journey. Travel with friends so there’s only one car to park.

4. Check where you park. Always make sure that you have entered your license plate number correctly and chosen the right location number when you park so you can avoid getting a parking ticket.

Here are the top five parking spots for the Seattle Convention Center and how far they are from both the Arch and Summit Buildings where PAX West is being held:

1. 1825 7th Avenue lot. This is open 24/7 and includes designated disabled spaces and no height restrictions. This is an easy six- or seven-minute walk to either building.

2. Diamond Parking Lot #A477 at 1901 Minor Avenue offers early bird and flat weekend rates and is also open 24/7. Still only a 10-minute walk to the Summit Building and 15-minutes to the Arch Building.

3. For on-street parking, head to Pike Place Market where there are multiple places to park, including along 1st Avenue and Western Avenue between Stewart Street and Unions Street. The shortest distance is 12 minutes, and the longest is 16 minutes.

4. Prime Parking Systems, Rollins Street Flats, at 120 Westlake Avenue, near Denny Park is still less than a 20-minute walk to the Convention Center. It’s slightly off the downtown track but perfectly situated near lots of local South Lake Union restaurants.

5. Head over to the First Hill District for on-street parking along East Pine Street between Bellevue Avenue and Harvard Avenue and you’re still only a 15-minute walk away.

If you haven’t already, download the PayByPhone app today from the App Store or Google Play Store, where registration is quick and easy – it takes about 30 seconds. Using the PayByPhone app means you can extend your parking in line with the location’s terms and conditions from the app – so no need to go back to the car. You can also use the Maps feature to locate parking areas before you leave. The app is available globally in 11 languages, including Spanish and French, but sadly not C++ or Python.
