University of Arizona implemented the PayByPhone feature for anyone parking on campus.

Mark Napier, the Associate Director of Parking and Transportation at the University of Arizona, says the goal is to help make parking as convenient as possible.

"The campus is a very large place and can be very inconvenient for people to go back to a meter and pay, and sometimes your class runs late or your meeting runs over."

To use it, all you have to do is sign up for an account and download the app to your phone. When you park, type in your parking spot number and the amount of time you need. Five minutes before your meter runs out you'll receive a text alert. If you need more time, you can add it from wherever you are.

Signing up for an account is completely free, however there is a 35 cent convenience fee every time you use it. The existing digital pay stations will still be available for use as well. Most students interviewed said the convenience fee wouldn't deter them.
